The ancient Romans constructed numerous aqueducts to supply water to cities and industrial sites. These aqueducts were among the greatest engineering feats of the ancient world, and set a standard not equaled for over a thousand years after the fall of Rome. Many cities still maintain and use the ancient aqueducts for their water supply even today.
The Romans typically built aqueducts to serve any large city in their empire. The city of Rome itself, being the largest city, had the largest concentration of aqueducts, with water being supplied by eleven aqueducts constructed over a period of 500 years.
Caesarea was established at the time of the Roman rule at the region, the small town was very prosperous and palace and entertainment facilities were built in it. Later the town lost its glory and became a small Muslim town.
In 1101 crusaders took over the city turning the command over again at
the area. Later in history, Caesarea was ruled by Louis the 9th and after it was used by the Turks as a fishing village.
At the times of the Roman rule a huge aqueduct was built at the Cesarea region. Remains of it can still be found at Hof Hakshatot (the Arches beach of Caesarea).
Today Caesarea is one of the most high prestige settlements in IsraelNation of the Jewish People (considered as a favorite town for politician), in addition to the old town where there are many new villas, luxurious hotels and even a Golf course.
